"Gathered Blooms" Art Journaling Workshop
Gathered Blooms is a relaxed art journaling workshop where we’ll paint, collage, and layer simple rosette-style flowers into a beautiful floral page. Using painted papers, intuitive mark making, and everyday supplies, we’ll build a page slowly and thoughtfully from start to finish. This workshop is about more than learning techniques, it’s about giving yourself time to play, explore, and enjoy the process of creating without pressure. A gentle, encouraging space to step away from the noise and spend a few meaningful hours with your art.
What We’ll Create
We’ll create a layered floral art journal page from scratch using painted collage paper and simple rosette-style flowers. Starting with painted backgrounds, we’ll build our page slowly by cutting, layering, and arranging flowers, leaves, and a vase, then finishing with intuitive marks and paint pen details. The focus is on process over perfection, letting the page evolve naturally as you play, experiment, and enjoy each layer coming together.
Why It's Important To Create
Creating like this gives your mind and body a chance to slow down and reset. Taking time to paint, cut, layer, and make simple marks helps quiet the noise and brings you back into the present moment. This kind of creative play builds confidence through repetition, not perfection, and reminds you that showing up matters more than how things turn out. Giving yourself space to create, even for a few hours, can gently shift how you feel long after the page is finished.
What You’ll Need
Simple supplies. Big impact. All you need is your art journal or mixed media paper, a few acrylic paints and inks, mod modge or matte medium, some collage scraps, and a playful attitude. A full supply list is included in your classroom!

It’s about reconnecting with your creative rhythm, enjoying the process, and giving yourself the space to create without pressure.

If you’ve ever felt stuck or overthought your art, this is your chance to loosen up and embrace the process. I’ll guide you through techniques to layer, blend, and add playful details—but there are no rules here! You’ll learn to work with your materials intuitively, letting each layer unfold naturally as you create a page that feels uniquely yours.
Gathering Your Collage
Collage can add texture, history, and meaning to your art journal pages. Before class, take a few moments to collect pieces that spark joy or curiosity—things that feel good to touch, look at, or hold memories. You might gather vintage book pages, ticket stubs, handwritten notes, patterned papers, or even scraps from old letters. Keep an eye out for botanical elements like roses, daisies, or ferns, as well as soft, textured papers that complement your color palette. There are no rules—simply choose pieces that inspire you and bring them along to layer into your journal!
