During Our Time Together

There’s something so freeing about working small! In this workshop, we’ll create 12 mini landscapes while playing with color, loose brushstrokes, and layers. Each little painting will unfold in its own way as we experiment with different palettes and let go of trying to make everything perfect. Come spend a couple of creative hours with me as we paint, play, and see where the watercolor takes us!

This Workshop Is for You If...

You love the idea of painting landscapes, but aren’t quite sure where to begin, or you look at a finished painting and think, “I could never do that!” Working small takes away so much of that pressure. We’ll build each little landscape together, one simple layer at a time. You don’t need landscape painting experience or fancy watercolor skills. Just bring a willingness to play with color, try something new, and see what happens.

More Than a Finished Painting

You’ll leave with 12 colorful mini landscapes, but the fun doesn’t have to stop there! Cut them apart and tuck them into your art journal, turn them into mini cards or gift tags, group three together on a card, or frame a few as a little collection. You can even use your favorites as inspiration for larger paintings. These tiny landscapes are a wonderful way to create, experiment, and then turn what you’ve made into something special.

Creativity Is Our Superpower

I truly believe creativity is our superpower, and we all need a little more time to slow down and make something with our hands. When you join me live on Zoom, I’ll be right there painting alongside you, sharing each step and cheering you on. Ask questions, paint along, or simply enjoy the process. There’s something special about gathering together to paint, play, and be creative, and I can’t wait to share this time with you.

Art Supplies

Don’t worry if you don’t have every supply on this list. Feel free to use what you already have at home. You can even create your mini landscapes right in your art journal or sketchbook if the paper can handle watercolor.

A complete supply list with links to my favorite supplies will be waiting for you inside your classroom after you register.

For this workshop, you’ll need:

  • Watercolor paper: I’ll be using a Fabriano hot press watercolor pad, but cold press works beautifully too. A watercolor pad is nice because it helps keep the paper from buckling.

  • Watercolor paints in a variety of your favorite colors

  • Watercolor brushes: A small round brush plus a couple of different sizes to experiment with.

  • Artist tape for creating our 12 mini landscapes

  • Colored pencils and/or gel pens for adding a few optional details

  • Graphite pencil

  • Palette or plate for mixing colors

  • Two containers of clean water

  • Paper towels

  • Optional for cutting your paintings apart: Scissors, or an X-Acto knife and ruler

And don’t feel like you need the exact supplies I’m using. Different brushes, colors, and papers will make each person’s little landscapes unique, which is part of the fun!
