"Press, Print & Play" Art Journaling Workshop

Join me for a fun and inspiring online workshop where we’ll play around with pressing textures, making simple prints, and layering beautiful papers for your art journal. In this 2.5 hour Zoom class, I’ll guide you through easy techniques using botanicals, everyday objects, gel plates, stamps, and stencils to create a collection of colorful, textured papers you can use in your art journaling and mixed media projects. No pressure, no perfection. Just creativity, curiosity, and time to play together.

This Class Is for Curious Creatives

This workshop is perfect for beginners, hobby artists, and anyone who enjoys art journaling, mixed media, or creative play. You don’t need a lot of experience or special tools to join in. If you’ve taken my workshops before, you already know how much I love sharing new ideas and techniques each time we gather. Making art, even in small moments, can help you relax, spark inspiration, and bring more creativity and joy into your everyday life.

Play With Prints, Textures, and Layers

During our time together, I’ll demonstrate several fun and approachable techniques that you can easily repeat at home. We’ll explore simple gel plate printing using botanicals and textured objects like bubble wrap, experiment with stencils to build layered patterns, and create easy foam stamps you can use again and again. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a variety of beautiful printed papers and textures for your art journals, collage work, and mixed media pages.

Building On Past Workshops

This workshop continues our creative journey into art journaling, with a fresh focus on pressing textures, simple printing techniques, and layered papers. We’ll explore gel plate printing with botanicals, playful stamping, stencils, and everyday objects to create a variety of beautiful printed papers. It’s about experimenting with new ideas, enjoying the process, and giving yourself the space to slow down, play, and create alongside a supportive community.

Go on a Texture Hunt Before Class

Before class, take a few moments to go on a little Texture Hunt around your home. Look for objects that might create interesting marks and patterns when pressed into paint. You might gather leaves or pressed flowers from the garden, pieces of bubble wrap, cardboard edges, lace, corks, bottle caps, mesh produce bags, or small textured objects. Choose things that spark curiosity or feel interesting to touch. There are no rules:) simply collect a few items and bring them along so we can experiment with pressing, printing, and discovering beautiful textures together during the workshop.

No Pressure, Just Play

If you’ve ever felt stuck or overthought your art, this is your chance to loosen up and embrace the process. I’ll guide you through techniques to layer, blend, and add playful details—but there are no rules here! You’ll learn to work with your materials intuitively, letting each layer unfold naturally as you create a page that feels uniquely yours.

Let’s Make Some Art Together!

I believe being Creative is our Superpower. I hope you know I’ll be your biggest encourager when you take any of my classes! I get so much joy seeing my students thrive when they are creating and realize the many benefits that an art practice can have in their life. These Live zoom workshops are all about Play! The energy is amazing when you create with other people at the same time. You can engage with the community, ask me questions, sit back and watch or paint along beside me.
